MELODY STONE

I am a 21-year-old student majoring in Studio Art at the College of Charleston. Growing up just outside of Washington, D.C., I was constantly inspired by the city’s vibrant culture, the diversity of people, and the energy of everyday life. Moving to Charleston, SC, has further shaped my observational skills, allowing me to translate my experiences into my artwork and refine my ability to tell visual stories.

My artistic practice is deeply rooted in storytelling and personal interpretation. I create all my work without references, relying on memory, dreams, and real-life experiences to illustrate narratives that feel both intimate and universally relatable. Each piece is a reflection of moments I’ve lived, emotions I’ve felt, and places I’ve been, inviting viewers to connect and find their own meaning within the imagery.

I am particularly drawn to capturing characters and emotions, using expressive forms to bring depth and movement to my work. My inspiration comes from the world around me—I strive to experience as much as possible so that I can infuse my feelings and perspectives into my illustrations, bringing them to life with authenticity and depth. My ultimate goal is to establish myself as a professional illustrator, creating work that resonates with people and tells compelling visual stories.
